not being picked is worse than being picked last

I posted about this on the rag-a-muffin blog, but I wanted to share on here too.

Right as I finished my sign that I was going to proudly hang in my booth at Renegade, I got the email.

I didn't get in.

All dressed up with nowhere to go.

So many brand new dolls, with brand new never before used fabrics and I even designed some new hairstyles!

At both shows I did, I sold out of dolls on the first day. It was sad the second day, having such an empty booth. I had people that came out to buy a doll from me personally, it was so awesome to actually meet my customers face to face. It's also really, really awesome to make a bunch of stuff just for one event. And to be able to sell it all? A dream come true for a home sewer like me.

I know I shouldn't take it personally, but I totally am.

I wore my favorite red shoes to a lunch date.

I went over to the Sunset district to the sewing shop. This is what it looks like over there 5 months out of the year. Wanna know why it's waaay cheaper to live over there?

This gloominess is why.

Luckily I live in Potrero Hill, where its always sunny. And I have my noodlebug to cuddle with me and make me feel better.

anniversary love

I love that Danny loves Lindsay as much as she loves him. I think it's so cute how infatuated she is with him, is that weird? Or have I been watching too much of the Tudors?

I think it's safe to say she'll never steal him from me.

I ordered this "cake topper" months ago. Oh, didn't it turn out perfectly??? I just love it.

Also, five years. What????

I'm making a mini quilt that will function as a sign for my shop. It's gonna be rad!

We watched coco for a few days. This is her preferred spot, right on Danny's chest as he's trying to do something.

Now I'd better be careful, cause coco will definitely try and steal Danny away from me!

I'm sick of lugging bottles of Dr Pepper from the store to the apartment. I hope this will be better!

all together now

Danny's sisters Chelsea and Lindsay come to visit us! We don't have a lot of room for guests but....

...luckily they act like twins, (they are 2 years apart) so sleeping together on our air mattress on the floor of my sewing room wasn't a problem.

Have you played Cards Against Humanity? OMG it's so hilarious. All four of us played for hours and laughed and laughed.

The next day we set out into the city.

I had some cereal for breakfast and then I got the worst case of the hiccups. The girls thought it was pretty funny (I guess it is if you aren't me) and before we left, I guzzled a bunch of water (I get so thirsty walking around if I don't) anyway all if this seemingly pointless information will be relevant soon.

We parked the car and went to the mall. The girls got something to drink at the Nordstrom cafe, and we decided what to do first. We walked to the train, took it one stop, them walked to the Asian Art Museum. When we were about a block away, I started coughing, like I had something in my throat. It got worse and worse as we approached the museum, when were right out front, I went to ask Chels if I could have a sip of her drink and...

... it went something like this: I said "Could I have a BLERGGGGBARRRRRFFFF" as I coughed again and I barfed right into my hands.

I BARFED IN MY HANDS PEOPLE. IN PUBLIC.

Another one came right after- I ran to the little stone wall in front of the grass as I barfed again. I heard a chorus of "ewwwwwwww!" and as I looked up, I saw a group of schoolkids lunching on the lawn. Not ten feet in front of me. Luckily, (for me, not them) what I barfed was mostly water, but my hands were icky. The girls were understandably freaked. I asked Linds to go into the museum and get me some paper towels.

Those poor kids! As I cleaned up I would glance at them- there were glares. We bought our tickets to get in and I cleaned up in the bathroom.

Ok, so I hate barfing. Like even if I have food poisoning, I WILL NOT BARF even if it will make me feel better. So this was the strangest thing to happen! I'm guessing that from all the hiccuping, I got an air bubble that was then layered with water, so when I coughed- blammo.

So.... on to the fun stuff!

Chels at the gate....

....and later, Linds in the Castro!

Over the next few days we had lots of adventures.

I loooooved waking up to these two chatting, singing while getting ready, asking outfit advice and acting so much like twins. I've missed them sooo much! And Danny just loved having his sisters here when he got home from work.

We drove out to San Jose to tour the infamous Winchester Mystery House.

It was so neat!

From the wiki:

In a Discovery Channel account, "She believed her only chance of a normal life was to build a house, and keep building it. If the house was never finished, no ghost could settle into it. The house contains many features that were utilized to trap or confuse spirits. There are doors that are small or lead nowhere and windows that look into other parts of the house. The mansion may be huge but there are only two mirrors in the whole place. This is because Sarah believed that ghosts were afraid of their own reflection."
Winchester inherited more than $20.5 million upon her husband's death. She also received nearly fifty percent ownership of the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, giving her an income of roughly $1,000 per day, equivalent to about $30,000 a day in 2012. These inheritances gave her a tremendous amount of wealth to fund the ongoing construction.

Can you even imagine having $30,000 a day to spend????

 photo IMG_9436_zps1eb70c1b.jpg
The cobwebbed bathroom windows. Most of the stained glass windows in the house are Tiffany!

The interior of the house is owned by some movie studio so it's copyrighted blah blah blah so you can't take any photos. But you can take them of the outside, so ok.

I was kind of dying that I couldn't take photos inside! It was so cool. Maybe you guys should change that, mmmmmkay?

Chels was super excited for clam chowder at Fisherman's wharf.

Linds and I had In n Out. We're not seafood people!
