blankety

It snowed A LOT on Monday night. As I was turning the lights out to go to bed, I looked out the window and noticed that it was kinda pretty out there.

So I grabbed my camera, put on my rain boots and made my way through the snow. At midnight.

That afternoon, the world was springy. All the snow had melted away, and I was happy to see our very dead lawn. 12 inches of snow in only a few hours.

The whole world is silenced. The night sky is white. The trees look so much bigger- the snow lines every single branch. I notice that all the big trees on our street are all on one side- their branches stretch across the road to shade the neighbors yards. My footsteps are mostly silent, sometimes squishy. I walk down the middle of the road, snapping my shutter, quietly admiring what the storm created.

It's the first time on my life I have truly appreciated the beauty of snow. I want to take more photos, during the day. But I know that tomorrow morning it will start to melt, and it won't look as magical or grand. No plows have been by, I'm tromping through snow that's as high as my rain boots. It's like a scene from a lame Xmas movie- everything so snowy and white.

I was right- it did melt the next day. Not a lot- just off the branches. I'm glad I took the time to get the few shots that I did, even though my husband thought I was insane.

it's so hard to say goodbye...to winter.

As all of you know, I absolutely love winter!

(hate, hate, hate)

I was filled with joy this morning when I woke up and saw all the snow, coating my front lawn, the trees starting to bud, and my car.

(the one day I actually feel better, and it has to be hellish outside? Really?!?)

While singing, I hopped in the shower and pondered all the fun things I could do in the snow when I was done.

(I took a really long, really hot shower. It was amazing. I actually felt human again.)

Still singing, I got dressed and happily plopped on my rain boots. I love splashing in puddles!

(I put my rain boots on and begged, please! Make it the last time! )

My mom came by to get an apron for a bridal shower she was going to later. So we went on a errand run together.

(she was my chauffeur for the afternoon.)

We had so much fun, dancing in the snow, while walking from the car to the store.

(we walked as fast as possible, shivering and complaining, on our way into Home Goods.)

I found some super cute plates, bowls, silverware, etc... all in the shape of cats! Of course I had to get the whole set. Danny's gonna love em!

(we were there to find a few cute kitchen accessories to go along with the apron. We found an awesome lime green colander, and a citrus zester.)

That was about all the adventure I could handle for the day, so my mom took me home.

(I got back into my fav chair, and watched some Seinfeld until Danny got home.)

I lit a cheery fire in the fireplace, and then I made rack of lamb for dinner.

(I got the leftover pizza from last night, and heated 3 slices up for me in the microwave, then I went to Jamba Juice, and got a coldbuster)

It was such a lovely day, such a wonderful and magical snowy day, I can't wait for next winter!

(Please please make it stop. Please please, I am losing my mind!)

***I really, really wanted those rain boots. They were last years, and they got such horrible reviews, that I figured the $75 price tag was just too much. :( ***

i. hate. snow.

I could not get myself out of bed today. I tried 3 times between the hours of 10 and 1. I finally got out at 2:30. Granted, I did stay up till about 2:30 the previous night... but 12 hours is ridiculous!

I blame my super comfy warm snugly bed. I finally got around to putting the "winter" blanket on our bed last night- our huge down comforter. Oh it is so amazingly warm and cozy! (now I really want to go to bed instead of blog) yawn. Anyway, despite sleeping in so late, I got a lot done today.

I did all the laundry.

I cleaned up all the cat pee. (my cats have abandoned their litter box lately, I kinda hate them at the moment. No, wait. I love them again.)

I made 1 of the 2 pumpkin cheesecakes that I am contributing to the upcoming Thanksgiving feasts.

I went to Costco. Yes, the Sunday before Thanksgiving. I went at 4, and it was crazy! I just needed a few things (vanilla beans- they are running dangerously low!) and I found a short line (can you believe it?) I was so proud of myself, going to Costco without Danny, avoiding lines.

Then I got to the door, and I saw this:

My heart sank.

I knew it was going to snow today! I KNEW it! I was going to wear my new rain boots out the door just in case, and then I thought that I would look silly tromping through Costco with squeaky rain boots if there was no rain/snow.

I found this photo on the world wide web, and it displays perfectly how the storm was at Costco. Me and my huge cart of bulk food that I had to push through that horrid wind that pelted me with big fat snowflakes. It sucked.

And I had more errands to run. So I did. I went to Michael's, Petco, and Fresh Marketplace. (I think that is what it is called now- the old Albertsons.)

3 more months of this???

I need something to look forward to! Like a tropical vacation or something. (hint, hint.)

Too bad DH doesn't read my blog.

But I do get to climb back in to that super comfy warm bed with DH.

'night.

oh no you didnt

How am I supposed to enjoy my day off when I wake up to this?

And now, it's snowing (I can't believe I just said the "S" word so early in the season!) even harder out there! It looks like a freakin snowglobe!

I hate snow. I have never really liked it, even as a kid. Hate is a strong word, but it is very appropriate for how I feel.

Don't worry, I won't let it ruin my day. I'm just gonna close all the blinds and pretend that the sun is shining so brightly, that I have to shut the blinds to avoid sunburn.

And now for a little imagination...

With the dishwasher going, it almost sounds like waves crashing on the sand.

Much better.

I think I shall crank up the heat, put some shorts on, and have a nice afternoon playing pretend.
