working

Over the past 2 weeks I have worked so hard that I put myself into a catatonic state. It manifested itself on Thursday, rendering me unable to get out of bed. It lasted until Friday evening, when I made myself go to Costco. Usually going to Costco makes me more tired and lazy- but this trip gave me motivation. Good thing I got back on track, I had 2 birthdays to bake for.

But it was good- all I do is sew lately, and I forget how much I love baking too.

I made the most delicious chocolate cake on Friday (for Nan), as well as chocolate cupcakes (for Stevie).

On Saturday after Nan's birthday party I made Tiramisu- it's Danny's absolute favorite. And he really deserves a treat right now.

On Sunday I filled the cupcakes with the rest of the Zabaione cream, and topped them with little waffle cookies for Stevie's birthday dinner at my parents house. I made these Tiramisu Cupcakes for her wedding shower and she always tells me how much she loved them- so I decided it was high time to make them again.

I looooove spring birthdays, thanks for letting me bake for you!

happy bloggerversary

A little over a year ago, I started this blog!

Do you celebrate something like this?

Well. Hmm. Maybe I should do a giveaway. Not a crazy one, you don't have to jump through any hoops, be my friend on Facebook, or follow me around in your car waiting for me to do something strange.

Leave me a comment, and I will randomly pick a winner.

And the prize? Well, it's a surprise! (if you want a baby related prize, just say so in your comment.)

You have one week (7 days) to enter.

Good luck!

mother's day 2009

Today we went to my parents house and had a fabulous dinner. We had steak, I made red potatoes and green beans, (and chocolate cake,of course). Nick made the famous strawberry salad, and we all ate way too much. I think it was the 4 layer cake that did us all in.

My mom shared some nice memories of her mother with us- it's always nice to hear them because I never knew her. It's pretty rare that she talks about her mom, usually when she does she gets really sad and cries. But not today! My grandma Betty was there too- She was in good spirits and happy. I don't think she knows who I am anymore, but that's okay.

Maloree of course was being silly, and pouring her Dr. Pepper in with her water, and when it got pretty gross looking, Lindsay piped up and said "Gimme. I want to taste." All of us said "No! Ew!" but she said "Yes! Yes!" so Mal handed her the glass. She was grinning ear to ear, and took a sip, and her smile vanished. It was replaced with a sour look, and she goes "Eeluch. You right, it IS gross!" And then she laughed and stuck her tongue out. My brother Nick was laughing so hard he had tears in his eyes.

Nick, Danny and my Dad put the new oven(s) in the wall, so now the kitchen is almost complete. I am so excited for my Mom! She has been waiting so long for this! I gave her the apron I have been working on, and she loved it. Of course I HAD to make her a decorative dish towel that matches. So not practical. But very cute.

We had a very good day today!

happy anniversary!

Well, it's been one whole year since Danny and I tied the knot. A lot has changed for us (and our families) in that year, and we have grown even closer together. (but not grown so close that our limbs fuse together like in Danny's vows)

Danny quit his job, and went back to school full-time.

My parents have completely remodeled their kitchen/living room, and they now have a larger kitchen and living room as well as a dining area. I am so excited to make new memories together around that huge table! And the sheer amount of cake that I could make with that new oven and huge granite countertop- it's dreamy.

My brother got married in September.

My best friend Mike married my newest best friend, Nan, in October.

My grandma Betty has Alzheimers- and her memory is fading fast. It's sad. But I have a million wonderful memories of her that will never fade.

I want to thank our families- you gave us the perfect wedding. Without your support, happiness, and well, money, we couldn't of done it without you.
So thanks!!!!
